The producer price index for manufacturing industries, excluding petroleum refining, rose by 0.5% in November compared to the previous month, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
This rise comes as a result of the increase in the prices of some fields, including an increase by 1.2% in prices of “Food industries,” 1.8% in “Manufacture of metal products, excluding machinery and equipment,” “Metallurgy up by 0.9%, “Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products up by 0.3%,” and an increase by 0.2% in the “Manufacture of textiles,” and “Manufacture of electrical equipment”, according to HCP’s recent note on the industrial, energy and mining producer price index in November.
However, the “Manufacturing of computer, electronic and optical products” dropped by 0.2% in the same period, according to the same source.
The producer price indices of the sectors of “Mining and quarrying,” “Production and distribution of electricity,” and “Production and distribution of water” remained stable in November.
Previously, the producer price index for manufacturing industries, excluding petroleum refining, was up by 3.3% in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year, as a result of a rise by 8.9% in food industries, the manufacture of electrical equipment by 22.7%, metallurgy by 16.1%, wood by 30, 2%, clothing industry by 6.8%, textiles by 11.5%, and the pharmaceutical industry by 8.8%, according to HCP.
