Tunisia imposed on Wednesday a six-months long mandatory vaccine pass in public space, in a move that’s largely rejected by the country’s rights groups who fear the pass infringes on workers and civil rights.
All Tunisians aged 18 and above and foreign residents in the country will be required to show the pass to enter cafes and restaurants, leisure places, businesses, public transport, and institutions.
In October, President Kais Saied passed a decree that made the vaccination pass compulsory, imposing sanctions against any person refusing to provide the pass.
About 45 percent of Tunisia’s population are vaccinated.
