The first qualification phase for the 2022 Qatar World Cup is nearing being revealed with some of the countries securing their spots in the finals event.
Qatar, the host of this sporting event will receive the first qualified countries so far, including Germany, Denmark, Brazil, Belgium, France, Croatia, Spain, and Serbia.
On Sunday, Spain and Croatia secured their places in Qatar thanks to 1-0 wins over Sweden and Russia respectively.
Serbia qualified as well after a 2-1 win against Portugal on Sunday, in which Cristiano Ronaldo’s team was leading the playoffs.
The game was about to end with 1-1, before Serbia’s player Aleksandar Mitrovic scored at the very end, bringing his team closer to the Qatar World Cup finals.
As for Africa, the qualified countries for the final round include Congo DR, Egypt, Ghana, Mali, Morocco, and Senegal.
The remaining countries in Africa that still can qualify, depending on their upcoming games, include Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Nigeria, Tunisia, and Zambia.
For Group A: there are still two remaining fixtures, including Algeria-Burkina and Faso Niger-Djibouti’s games.
For Group B: Tunisia vs. Zambia and Mauritania vs. Equatorial Guinea’s games are still to play.
For Group C: Nigeria vs. Cabo Verde, and Liberia vs. Central African Republic’s games.
For Group D: Cameroon vs. Côte d’Ivoire and Mozambique vs. Malawi’s games.
For Group E: Mali vs. Uganda, and Kenya vs. Rwanda’s games.
For Group F: Egypt vs. Gabon, and Libya vs. Angola.
For Group G: Zimbabwe vs. Ethiopia, and Ghana vs. South Africa.
For Group H: Senegal vs. Congo, and Namibia vs. Togo.
For Group I: Guinea-Bissau vs. Sudan, and Morocco vs. Guinea.
Five countries will represent Africa in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, scheduled to take place between November 21 and December 18 next year, this will be the first World Cup to be held in an Arab country, and
will be the last to feature 32 teams with that number being expanded to 48 for the 2026 World Cup, set to be played in the US, Mexico, and Canada.
