The consumer price index (CPI) recorded an increase of 1.2% during the month of September 2021, compared to the same month of the previous year, said the High Commission for Planning (HCP).

This increase is the result of the rise in the index of non-food products of 1.9% and the decline in that of food products of 0.3%, said the HCP in a note on the consumer price index for September.

For non-food products, the variations range from a decrease of 0.4% in “Communications” to an increase of 5.8% for “Transport”.

Compared to the previous month, the CPI rose in September 2021 by 0.7%, the same source added, noting that this change is the result of the 1.2% increase in the food index and 0.2% of the index of non-food products.

The increases in food products observed between August and September 2021 concern mainly “Bread and cereals” with 4.6%, “Oils and fats” with 2.5%, “Meat” and “Milk, cheese and eggs” with 0.6%, “Fruit” with 0.5% and “Vegetables” with 0.3%.

On the other hand, prices decreased by 2.5% for “Fish and seafood” and by 0.4% for “Mineral waters, soft drinks”.

For non-food products, the rise concerned mainly the prices of “Fuels” with 0.8%.
