Morocco’s renewable energy attractiveness remained stable in 2021, at 16 out of 40 countries ranked in the the renewable energy country attractiveness index (RECAI) for September 2021.
The International Organization World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) ranked the OCP Group in 4th place worldwide, among 350 companies, thanks to its long-term goals to reduce greenhouse gases and water consumption in food and agriculture.
RECAI ranked the US first, with no change since the previous index, followed by China second, India placed third, then France came fourth, increased compared to the previous index, saying “the French Government has mapped a 750MW wind zone off the west coast, signaling the start of a tender process for the nation’s first significant floating offshore wind project. There is potential for this zone to be increased to 2GW in future.”
The UK is placed fifth, decreasing in terms of attractiveness compared to the previous index, took a step back from 4th place to the 5th, then Germany placed 6th.
This index is based on the use of renewable energy as market conditions, policy decisions, investment, and technology improvements that push clean energy to new heights, according to EY’s company’s website, whose purpose is to build a better working world, where there is investment in renewable energy, beyond decarbonization and reliance on subsidies.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and recession, investment in renewable energy capacity grew by 2% to US$303.5 last year, while renewable capacity installs surged 45% compared with 2019, to 265GW, signaling the fastest growth rate since 1999, according to the same source.
With COP26 approaching, EY’s company is aiming for the investment in renewable energy, as a key part of the energy transition.
COP26 will take place in Glasgow, the UK, in partnership with Italy, starting October 31 to November 12.
The different partners will take forward action on protecting and restoring forests and critical ecosystems, and will champion the transition towards sustainable, resilient, and nature positive agriculture, according to the COP26UK’s website.
