Abdellatif Maâzouz of the Istiqlal (PI) was elected today as president of the strategic Casablanca-Settat region council.
At the headquarters of the Wilaya of the Casablanca-Stettat region, Abdellatif Maâzouz received 67 positive votes out of 69, of which 2 were negative. The meeting was also marked by the election of the secretary of the Council, as well as his deputy.
The procedure also marked the election of nine vice-presidents, including three women belonging to the Istiqlal Party, the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) and the National Rally of Independents (RNI).
The elections results of the region run on September 8 placed the National Rally of Independents came first, winning 26 seats out of a total of 75 in the region.
The Authenticity and Modernity Party came second with 20 seats, followed by the Istiqlal Party with 19 seats.
The Constitutional Union (UC) won 4 seats, while the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP), the Party for Progress and Socialism (PPS), the Justice and Development Party (PJD) won 2 seats each.
