US opens borders to nonessential travel starting November
Monday 20 September 2021 - 17:41

The US will lift in early November travel restrictions for international tourists who are vaccinated against Covid-19, the White House announced on Monday.

Travelers will need to provide proof of vaccination and a negative PCR test taken within three days of departure, reports US media.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Airlines will conduct a 30 days contact tracing, collecting information on US arrivals, including phone numbers and email addresses.

US travel bans were introduced in early 2020 when the pandemic hit China in January 2020 to include 26 countries, including European nations, part of decisions made under President Donald Trump’s administration.

President Joe Biden kept up with strict bans on foreign travelers despite higher vaccination rates in Europe and the UK.
