The Ministry of Health published on its official Facebook page a video suggesting that it is preparing to impose the vaccination passport on citizens wishing to enter public places such as cafes, restaurants, theaters and cinemas.
Dr Tayeb Hamdi told Hespress Eng’that the adoption of the vaccination passport in Morocco “is certain, as its adoption began two months ago, so that holders of the vaccination passport can travel without presenting any document and move between cities freely’.
He considered that the only way to protect unvaccinated people is to prevent them from entering public places so as not to put them at risk, and “to allow the return to normal life and contain and limit the spread of COVID-19 as well.”
“those who are prohibited from taking the vaccine are the people who are allergic to one of the substances that make up the vaccine, and this is very rare, or the people who took the first dose and it turned out that they have a real allergy and therefore they don’t take the second dose, they must have a medical certificate to prove this,” Dr Hamdi added.
These people would need a medical certificate to circulate.
Several countries including Britain, France and Australia witnessed demonstrations protesting against the mandatory vaccination passport.
In Britain, citizens opposing compulsory vaccination against Covid-19 demonstrated in London, immediately after the government announced that opponents rejected the plan as a restriction on civil liberties.
In France, thousands demonstrated, especially in Paris and Marseille, against the expansion of the scope of the imposition of the health certificate and the mandatory vaccination of some professions, including medical staff.
Morocco launched the national vaccination campaign on Thursday, January 28, 2021, in order to achieve herd immunity, provided that about 80 percent of the population will be vaccinated.
The number of people who have been vaccinated with two doses in Morocco, according to the latest statistics published by the Ministry of Health, has reached more than 15 million citizens, while 19 million citizens were vaccinated with the first dose.
