Indian defence manufacturer Tata Advanced Systems is considering expanding its Moroccan factory to produce a second type of armoured military vehicle, according to Indian defence industry reports.
The company is evaluating plans to manufacture its Light Armoured Multi-Role Vehicle (LAMV), a four-wheel-drive tactical vehicle, at its Berrechid facility near Casablanca, publications IDRW and Raksha Anirveda reported in October.
The potential expansion follows the September 2025 inauguration of Tata Advanced Systems Maroc, the company’s first overseas defence manufacturing facility, which produces WhAP 8×8 armoured vehicles for Morocco’s armed forces.
The 20,000-square-metre plant was inaugurated by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Morocco’s Minister Delegate for National Defence Administration Abdellatif Loudiyi.
The facility is expected to generate 90 direct and 250 indirect jobs, with local component sourcing initially set at 35% and targeted to reach 50%.
Adding the LAMV would broaden the factory’s production beyond eight-wheeled armoured vehicles and potentially support exports to other African markets.
The project forms part of Morocco’s efforts to develop domestic military manufacturing through partnerships with foreign defence companies.
