Mounir Nasraoui, the Moroccan father of Barcelona football star Lamine Yamal, has sparked concern among supporters after posting an unexplained appeal for help on Instagram, days after reports emerged alleging that he was involved in a confrontation at Barcelona airport.
“Hello, good morning to the entire Barça family. I need help as a person and a human being,” Nasraoui wrote Wednesday, sharing a black-and-white photograph of himself alongside FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
The post offered no explanation of the assistance he was seeking, prompting questions from followers and coverage across Spanish sports media.
According to AS and Mundo Deportivo, Nasraoui has not clarified the meaning of his message or whether it concerns a personal matter, his relationship with the club or another issue.
The photograph with Laporta attracted particular attention, although there is no indication that the Barcelona president was involved in the circumstances prompting the appeal.
The message followed Spanish media reports of an alleged confrontation at Barcelona-El Prat Airport before Nasraoui travelled to London for Monday’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Infobae, citing accounts circulating on social media, reported that the incident allegedly began when a café employee asked Nasraoui to move a jacket.
Those accounts alleged that the disagreement escalated, with Nasraoui accused of spitting at the employee and subsequently confronting another passenger.
The reports also claimed that the Civil Guard intervened. However, the detailed allegations have not been independently verified, and no official police account establishing the circumstances was available in the reporting reviewed.
Nasraoui has not publicly linked his Instagram appeal to the airport incident, and it remains unclear whether the two events are related.
The controversy comes after Yamal finished third in the 2026 Ballon d’Or rankings, behind winner Harry Kane and runner-up Kylian Mbappé.
The Barcelona winger also collected his third consecutive award recognizing the world’s leading young player.
