FREELANDER has unveiled further technical details of its FREELANDER 8 model, highlighting a hybrid powertrain producing up to 460 kilowatts, an all-electric range of 110 kilometers and off-road capabilities including water wading up to 900 millimeters.
The company announced the specifications for the international left-hand-drive version following the brand’s global launch in Abu Dhabi on Sept. 29. The figures apply to the Middle East market model, with specifications varying by market and trim level.
The vehicle combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid engine with a 34.12-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery and dual-motor all-wheel drive. The system delivers up to 662 newton-meters of peak torque and accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.8 seconds.

FREELANDER 8 offers a claimed combined range of 886 kilometers with a full fuel tank and fully charged battery. Its all-electric range is listed at 110 kilometers, while the battery supports 11-kilowatt AC charging and DC fast charging from 20% to 80% in 20 minutes or less.
The chassis features dual-chamber air suspension and Continuously Controlled Damping, with maximum ground clearance of 266 millimeters. The system adjusts ride height and damping to accommodate different road conditions.
Its All-Terrain Dual Lock System combines a Virtual Central Differential Lock with an electronic limited-slip differential to help distribute torque and maintain traction on slippery surfaces and uneven terrain.
The vehicle’s i-ATS Intelligent All-Terrain System offers nine driving modes, including seven terrain-specific programs, Smart Mode and Expert Mode. According to the company, the vehicle can negotiate an 800-millimeter cross-axle test, climb gradients of up to 70% and wade through water up to 900 millimeters deep under specified test conditions.
FREELANDER said its international rollout will begin in left-hand-drive markets, starting with the Middle East, before expanding to right-hand-drive and European Union specification markets.

The international left-hand-drive version is scheduled to make its dynamic debut at the 2026 Chery International User Summit in Wuhu, China, in October. The event will also feature the unveiling of the OMODA X crossover and the debut of the EXEED ET9.
FREELANDER is a British premium intelligent all-terrain brand jointly developed by JLR and Chery. JLR owns the brand and leads its design through a dedicated design hub, while Chery provides intelligent technologies and supply-chain support. The company says its global operations include more than 5,000 employees and five strategic hubs.
