Algerian authorities handed over 33 Moroccan nationals to Morocco on Wednesday through the Zouj Beghal border crossing, including one minor, according to the Association for Assisting Migrants in Difficult Situations.
Most of those released were from the northern city of Ksar El Kebir, while others came from Nador, Settat, Oujda, Fez, Berkane, Taounate, Casablanca, Taza, Errachidia, Tinghir, Tetouan and Jerada, the association said.
Families were waiting to receive their relatives following the handover, it added.
The association said it continues to follow cases involving Moroccan nationals detained, missing or deceased in connection with migration attempts, including by monitoring court proceedings and helping families provide documents needed to establish identities and prove family relationships.
The organization is also following cases involving Moroccan nationals detained or held in Libya, saying the number of families seeking assistance in tracing relatives or determining their whereabouts has increased.
