Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology issued an orange-level weather alert Monday for locally heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts, in several southern provinces.
The alert covers Boujdour, Oued Eddahab and Aousserd, where rainfall of 50 to 80 millimeters is expected, according to warning bulletin No. 200/2026.
Rainfall of 30 to 50 millimeters is also forecast in Laayoune, Smara and Tarfaya.
The orange alert is valid from 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, through 11 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, the meteorological directorate said.
