Casablanca dental students began an indefinite boycott of clinical training Tuesday, demanding adequate facilities and an end to paying for materials used to treat patients, their representative bureau said.
The boycott covers all departments at Ibn Rochd University Hospital’s dental treatment center, where students say rising enrollment has outpaced capacity and increased pressure on training facilities.
Their bureau argued that placements should have been expanded before student numbers rose, and that students should no longer bear the cost of medical supplies and equipment needed for patient care.
After repeated appeals and talks failed to resolve the problems, representatives called for concrete measures under a clear timetable. They held administrators and supervising authorities responsible for any resulting disruption to training and treatment.
The bureau said students would resume placements only once their demands were met through tangible improvements, stressing that suitable clinical conditions were essential to both professional training and patient care.
