Morocco has begun a multi-year modernization program for its C-130 military transport aircraft, aimed at upgrading onboard systems, improving operational readiness and extending the fleet’s service life, according to U.S. defense company L3Harris.
The company has completed inspections of the first Moroccan aircraft included in the program, marking the start of the modernization work on the Royal Moroccan Air Force’s transport fleet, Moroccan newspaper Al Ahdath Al Maghribia reported Thursday.
The aircraft is currently at an L3Harris facility in Waco, Texas, where it is undergoing maintenance, repair and refurbishment alongside the installation of technical upgrades to its systems and equipment.
The C-130 fleet is an important component of Morocco’s airlift and logistical support capabilities, providing transport capacity for military operations and other missions.
The modernization program is expected to be carried out over several years and will focus on improving the aircraft’s systems and operational capabilities while extending their service life.
