Spanish health services have treated five migrant women for alleged sexual assaults following the mass crossings into Ceuta on July 30 and 31, Health Minister Mónica García said Sunday.
García said her ministry was prepared to assist local authorities with medical and clinical reports. Officials have not disclosed the victims’ identities or the circumstances surrounding the alleged attacks.
Security sources have reported six complaints, while publicly available court information indicates that at least three proceedings have been opened.
Authorities have not confirmed whether all those files concern the five patients cited by García.
Ceuta has meanwhile begun transferring migrant girls and unaccompanied adolescents from a temporary gymnasium shelter to two converted industrial buildings.
