Morocco supplied more than half of Norway’s imported raspberries and blackberries for the first time during the 2025/2026 marketing year, EastFruit reported on August 12, extending its lead in a small but growing northern European market.
Norway imported a record 707 metric tons of the two berries from Morocco between July 2025 and June 2026, worth more than €9.3 million. Shipments rose 22% from the previous season even as Norway’s total imports declined.
Morocco’s strongest advance came in May, when shipments reached a monthly record of 216 tons, more than twice the volume recorded a year earlier. May bridges Norway’s winter import period and the start of its limited domestic harvest, giving Moroccan growers a critical market window.
Norway depends on foreign berries outside its short summer season because its climate restricts domestic production. Morocco’s principal export period runs from October through May, covering winter and late-spring demand.
Portugal remained Morocco’s closest competitor, but its shipments fell nearly 27%. Morocco finished the season 215 tons ahead of Portugal, while the Netherlands, Spain, Mexico and Poland supplied smaller volumes.
