The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Washington hosted, on Thursday evening, a reception to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Throne of His Glorious Ancestors.

Held in the prestigious “Hall of the Americas,” the ceremony brought together a large gathering of political, diplomatic, economic, and academic figures, alongside members of the business community, partners and friends of the Kingdom, and representatives of the Moroccan community residing in the United States.

Enhanced by the presence of US Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, as well as other senior officials from the U.S. administration, the White House, members of Congress, the diplomatic corps, the business community, and Washington’s leading think tanks, the event underscored the depth of a bilateral partnership that has continued to grow stronger for nearly 250 years.

Speaking on the occasion, Morocco’s ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, noted that the celebration of the Throne Day marks “a nation’s annual rendez-vous with its history, but above all with its future. It celebrates a Kingdom that is moving forward with confidence, driven by a clear vision, a bold ambition, and leadership that transforms challenges into opportunities.”

The ambassador emphasized that, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco is pursuing a unique path based on a coherent and inclusive combination of stability, openness, and action.

Referring to relations between Rabat and Washington, Mr. Amrani stressed that the ties between the two countries go far beyond the framework of traditional cooperation.

“The partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States is measured not only by its longevity, but by its ongoing ability to reinvent itself,” he said.

Highlighting the major transformations undertaken under the leadership of His Majesty the King, the ambassador affirmed that the Kingdom is approaching the major challenges of tomorrow with confidence and determination.

“On the path to 2030, the whole of Morocco is on the move. A Morocco that invests, innovates, builds, and unites. A Morocco that views the future not as a distant promise, but as a present responsibility.”

Ambassador Amrani further noted that the presence of Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau at this reception illustrates the exceptional quality of Moroccan-American relations and reflects the unique place occupied by the Kingdom within the United States’ strategic vision, an alliance built on shared values, enduring trust, and a common commitment to peace, security, and prosperity.

For his part, Mr. Landau reaffirmed the exceptional nature of the partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America, noting that the two countries share nearly 250 years of uninterrupted friendship – the longest standing in U.S. history.

In this regard, the US Deputy Secretary of State paid tribute to the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Donald J. Trump, affirming that the Kingdom is an “indispensable” long-standing partner of the United States.

“Our partnership is about the future as well as the past,” said the US Deputy Secretary of State, while praising the Kingdom’s leading role in promoting regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

He also highlighted the particularly promising prospects for the Moroccan-American strategic partnership, noting the convergence of the two countries’ priorities in forward-looking fields such as energy, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, the defense industry, and strategic infrastructure.

Mr. Landau also reiterated the U.S. administration’s consistent position on the Moroccan Sahara, noting that the United States recognizes the Kingdom’s sovereignty over its Sahara and remains “firmly committed” to reaching a final solution to this issue.
