Body of British woman found in suitcase in Athens: TV

Greek police are trying to determine the circumstances of a British woman’s death after she was found in a suitcase in Athens this month, state TV ERT said Wednesday.

The station said Interpol data had helped to identify the 38-year-old, who is believed to have travelled to Greece from Cyprus earlier this month.

The body was found on July 18 by a homeless person in an abandoned building in central Athens. The woman is believed to have died between five and seven days before the discovery, ERT said.

Greek police contacted by AFP did not immediately comment on the case. The British embassy in Athens could not be reached for comment.
