Global air traffic is expected to more than double to cross 10 billion passengers per year by 2045, said Airbus corporation, with the German State among the main shareholders.

Quoted by German press, the European aircraft manufacturer expects an average annual growth of 3.9% in passenger traffic over the next twenty years.

Airbus also forecasts that the sector will need 42,060 new aircraft between 2026 and 2045, including 33,920 single-aisle aircraft and 8,140 wide-body aircraft.

Nearly half of these aircraft, supposedly 19,820 aircraft, would replace older models, while others should be used to support the growth in traffic.
