Morocco equalled Senegal’s record for the most goals scored by an African team in a single World Cup after taking its 2026 tally to 10.
The Atlas Lions reached the mark with three goals against Canada, following earlier strikes against Brazil, Scotland, Haiti and the Netherlands.
Senegal had set the record three days earlier, on July 1, after scoring twice in a 3-2 round-of-32 defeat by Belgium. The West African side finished the tournament with 10 goals from four matches.
Morocco matched that total in five games and remains in the competition, giving it the chance to claim the record outright in the quarterfinals.
Goals scored during penalty shootouts are not included in official tournament totals.
