Morocco’s Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region promoted its investment opportunities at the Morocco-France Economic Day in Paris on Wednesday, as officials sought to capitalize on improving economic ties between Rabat and Paris.
The event, organized by the Moroccan Embassy in France and the Paris Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry, brought together Moroccan and French government officials, business leaders and investors. Moroccan Ambassador to France Samira Sitail attended the forum.

Representing the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, Mohamed Jaifar, president of the Regional Investment Center, presented the region’s economic potential, highlighting opportunities in renewable energy, fisheries, the blue economy, manufacturing, logistics and tourism.
Jaifar said the region has emerged as one of Morocco’s leading investment destinations due to its strategic location as a gateway to African markets and infrastructure projects carried out under Morocco’s development program for its southern provinces.
He said those investments have strengthened transport and logistics infrastructure while improving the business climate, making the region increasingly attractive to domestic and foreign investors.

Jaifar also outlined the Regional Investment Center’s role in assisting investors by simplifying administrative procedures, accelerating project approvals and providing institutional support from the planning stage through implementation.
He said those measures have helped improve the region’s competitiveness and position it as an emerging economic hub capable of attracting large-scale investment.
The forum took place as Morocco and France continue to deepen their economic partnership, with officials on both sides seeking to expand investment cooperation, including in Morocco’s southern provinces.
Speaking to Hespress, Jaifar said the Paris event was intended to showcase the region’s economic strengths and capitalize on the renewed momentum in Moroccan-French relations to attract additional French investment.

He said Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra offers significant opportunities in renewable energy, the blue economy, industry, logistics and tourism, supported by modern infrastructure and an improving investment climate.
Jaifar said growing interest from French and European investors reflects increasing international confidence in the region’s economic potential.
Looking ahead, he said the priority is to move beyond identifying investment opportunities and toward implementing concrete projects.
He added that the Regional Investment Center remains committed to facilitating administrative procedures for French investors and supporting projects that contribute to sustainable economic development.
Jaifar also said the evolving Moroccan-French partnership creates opportunities to expand joint investment, industrial cooperation and shared value chains, describing Morocco’s southern provinces as well-positioned to support those ambitions because of their logistical infrastructure and proximity to African markets.
