Morocco’s field tax audits generated MAD 10.67 billion in 2025 as the tax authority sharply increased scrutiny of companies and institutions, according to its annual report.
Legal entities accounted for 90% of field audits, up from 54% in 2024, while the amount recovered through on-site inspections rose 11%.
The General Directorate of Taxes attributed the increase to a stronger audit unit, improved information systems, updated risk models and wider use of available taxpayer data under its 2024-2028 strategy.
Urgent audits represented 34% of inspected files, compared with 18% a year earlier.
The authority also reviewed 82,017 tax files using declarations and documents already available to it, an increase of 35%. Individuals and self-employed professionals accounted for 51% of taxpayers whose filings were adjusted through those checks.
Document audits and tax-base corrections generated MAD 6.54 billion, up 24% from 2024.
