OCP Nutricrops and the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) have renewed their annual strategic fertilizer supply agreement for the 2026-2027 period, covering up to 1.3 million metric tons of phosphate fertilizers, the companies announced Thursday.
The agreement includes the supply of up to 750,000 metric tons of Triple Super Phosphate (TSP), a phosphate fertilizer used to address phosphorus deficiencies in soils and improve crop productivity.
OCP Nutricrops, a subsidiary of Morocco’s OCP Group specializing in phosphate-based soil and plant nutrition solutions, said the renewed agreement builds on a partnership with BADC that dates back to 2008.
“We are grateful for the trust BADC continues to place in us and for our longstanding partnership,” OCP Nutricrops CEO Faris Derrij said in a statement. He said the agreement reflects the partners’ shared commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s agricultural priorities by strengthening food security, improving productivity, promoting efficient nutrient use and enhancing resilience to climate-related challenges.
BADC Chairman Md. Azizul Islam said the agency has imported fertilizers from OCP since 2008 and described the latest agreement as evidence of the growing trust between the two organizations.
The Bangladeshi state agency is responsible for supplying agricultural inputs to farmers as part of the country’s efforts to strengthen food production.
According to OCP Nutricrops, the renewed agreement extends beyond fertilizer supply and forms part of broader cooperation aimed at improving soil health, promoting more efficient fertilizer use, supporting agronomic innovation and contributing to Bangladesh’s long-term food and nutrition security.
Earlier this year, the OCP Foundation and Bangladesh’s Ministry of Agriculture signed a three-year partnership to support the country’s agricultural development through farmer training, knowledge sharing and agronomic initiatives.
The program is designed to improve understanding of Bangladesh’s soils and farming systems and support the development of customized soil and crop nutrition solutions tailored to local conditions.
Together, the fertilizer supply agreement and the broader cooperation initiatives are intended to support Bangladesh’s long-term agricultural strategy by promoting healthier soils, climate resilience, more efficient use of agricultural inputs and stronger support for farmers, according to OCP Nutricrops.
