EU lawmakers approve 'return hubs' migration reform

The European Parliament approved on Wednesday tougher migration rules that will grant authorities much broader detention powers and allow for the creation of deportation centres outside the bloc.

Lawmakers voted 418 to 218 in favour of a reform aimed at boosting deportations as the bloc’s 27 nations respond to political pressure to curb migration.
