Morocco’s under-20 national team secured qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations after beating Egypt 2-0 Saturday in Ismailia, Egypt, in the fourth round of the North African qualifying tournament.
Adam Baalal opened the scoring in the 25th minute before Sami Bouhoudane doubled Morocco’s lead eight minutes later.
Egypt pushed to reduce the deficit after halftime, but Morocco’s goalkeeper Belaouch and the defense kept the hosts scoreless. Morocco also continued to create chances in search of a third goal.
The Atlas Cubs held on for the 2-0 victory to secure their place at the continental finals, with one qualifying-round match remaining against Libya.
