Morocco has been ranked the 19th most prepared country in the world for artificial intelligence-driven outsourcing, according to the latest Global AI Readiness Index for Outsourcing published by research firm Ataraxis.
The ranking places Morocco among the world’s top 25 outsourcing destinations and makes it the second-highest ranked country in the Middle East and North Africa region, behind Egypt, which placed 16th globally.
The index evaluates countries’ readiness to support AI-enabled outsourcing services by examining four key areas: public adoption of AI technologies, workforce knowledge and skills, business adoption of AI, and education systems’ ability to develop future AI talent.
Morocco scored 43.35 points out of 100 overall, ranking fifth in Africa for AI readiness.
One of the report’s notable findings is Morocco’s performance in business AI adoption. The country received a score of 39 out of 100 in the category, outperforming several competitors, including Kenya and Nigeria.
Although business adoption remains Morocco’s lowest-scoring area, the report noted that the country still ranks above average and ahead of several larger economies, suggesting it has established a stronger foundation than many competing outsourcing destinations.
Morocco earned 48 points for public adoption of AI technologies, reflecting growing familiarity with AI tools among the population.
The country scored 41 points in workforce readiness, measuring employees’ AI-related knowledge and skills, and 46 points in education, highlighting efforts to prepare future generations for technological transformation.
According to the report, Morocco’s results indicate steady progress toward becoming a competitive destination for companies seeking AI-enabled outsourcing services.
Globally, India topped the ranking with 84.55 points, followed by Brazil with 76.1 points and Malaysia with 75.65 points. Ethiopia ranked last among the 25 countries assessed, with 24.2 points.
The report emphasizes that the index measures countries’ attractiveness for AI-related outsourcing rather than their overall technological advancement.
Researchers noted that while wealthier nations often benefit from stronger institutions and more advanced AI ecosystems, outsourcing readiness also depends on factors such as workforce scalability, talent development and the broader adoption of AI technologies across society.
As global demand for AI-powered business services continues to grow, the report suggests that countries such as Morocco could strengthen their position by accelerating business adoption of AI and expanding specialized workforce training programs.
