Local authorities in Tangier have confiscated approximately two tons of spoiled chicken from a warehouse in Aouama district. The seizure was carried out as part of an ongoing regulatory campaign aimed at monitoring food safety and protecting public health.
The operation was directly supervised by local administrative officials, supported by the Auxiliary Forces, health preservation services, and a specialized regional committee. During the inspection, authorities discovered the large quantity of poultry being stored in highly unsanitary conditions. Preliminary health assessments confirmed that the meat was spoiled and entirely unfit for human consumption, leading to its immediate confiscation for destruction in accordance with legal procedures.
Following the seizure, competent authorities launched an investigation to trace the source of the contaminated poultry and identify any parties involved in its potential distribution to local markets.
The incident has sparked widespread public outrage given the severe health risks posed by the massive quantity of spoiled food. The discovery has reignited citizens’ demands for stricter inspections of food storage facilities and retail outlets to aggressively counter any threats to the health and safety of Moroccan consumers.
