Qatar condemned the attack targeting the city of Smara in Morocco, reaffirming its support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.

In a statement issued Saturday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed “full solidarity” with Morocco and backed “its sovereign rights over the Moroccan Sahara,” according to the official Qatari news agency.
The ministry also voiced support for measures taken by Morocco to preserve “its sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and stability.”

The statement adds to a growing series of regional and international reactions condemning the attack, including statements issued earlier this week by the United States Mission to the United Nations and several Arab countries.
