Real Madrid opened today internal disciplinary proceedings against Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni after a training ground clash at Valdebebas escalated into a physical altercation, according to reports from AS and Cadena SER cited by Madrid Universal.
AS reported that Valverde suffered a facial wound serious enough to require immediate medical attention and stitches at Blua Sanitas Valdebebas hospital, where he was accompanied by his coach Álvaro Arbeloa.
The incident reportedly followed an earlier confrontation on Wednesday and worsened at Thursday’s session after Valverde refused Tchouaméni’s handshake, with tensions carrying into the dressing room.
Cadena SER added that the cut may have come when Valverde struck the dressing-room table during the fight, rather than from a direct blow by Tchouaméni.
AS also reported that chief executive José Ángel Sánchez rushed to the training complex and that club president Florentino Pérez also intervened as Real Madrid moved to discipline both midfielders.
Reports say the club has not yet ruled out maximum punishment, which cold leave Valverde and Tchouaméni unavailable for one of the biggest mat hes of the season, with El Clásico against Barcelona looming on Sunday.
