Morocco generated 31 billion dirhams in tourism revenues in the first quarter of 2026, marking a 24 percent increase year on year, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
The performance comes alongside 4.3 million tourist arrivals over the same period, up 7 percent compared with Q1 2025, reflecting continued momentum in the sector despite global uncertainties.
The ministry said the rise in receipts signals a shift beyond volume growth toward higher value generation, with stronger spending per visitor and improved positioning of Morocco’s tourism offer across markets.
Tourism remains a key pillar of the Moroccan economy, contributing around 7 percent of GDP and acting as a major source of foreign currency inflows. The Q1 figures build on record performance in 2025, when the country attracted nearly 20 million visitors and generated over 138 billion dirhams in revenues.
Tourism minister Fatim Zahra Ammor said the increase reflects a growing economic impact across local ecosystems, pointing to efforts to diversify the offer, improve visitor experience, and extend benefits across regions.
The data reinforces Morocco’s trajectory toward its long term target of 26 million tourists by 2030, with growth driven by expanded air connectivity, diversified source markets, and investment in accommodation and entertainment infrastructure.
