Roughly 1,500 tickets per day for Korea Culture Week 2026 in Rabat sold out within three hours, underscoring rising Moroccan demand for Korean cultural events, organizers said.
The two day event, held at the Mohammed V Theater and organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Morocco, combined classical and contemporary performances aimed at showcasing Korean heritage and modern culture.
Opening night featured a concert blending opera with traditional Korean “gagok” singing, performed by Korean vocalists and a pianist based in Milan. Moroccan musicians from the Salé music and choreography institute joined the program, playing oud, qanun, and darbuka alongside a Moroccan tenor in a cross cultural set.

The performance included a fusion of the Moroccan song “Bint Bladi” and the Korean track “Soda Pop,” popularized by the film “K pop Demon Hunters,” followed by a joint rendition of the Korean folk song “Arirang.”
Beyond the stage, the event hosted interactive activities including traditional Korean games. Organizers said the program extends into a second day with hanbok fashion shows and K pop performances.

South Korea’s ambassador to Morocco said the initiative reflects deepening cultural ties, while organizers pointed to the rapid ticket sell out as evidence of growing local interest in Korean culture.
