Moroccan police arrested a 35 year old suspect on Thursday in connection with the fatal robbery of a French citizen in Taroudant, after the victim was found dead near a caravan parked outside a private clinic where his wife was receiving treatment.
The General Directorate for National Security said the body of the 79 year old French national was discovered with a serious facial wound believed to have been caused by a blunt object, according to Moroccan media citing an official police statement.
Police said the suspect, who has multiple prior convictions for theft and showed signs of mental disturbance, was arrested in Inzegane in a joint operation involving officers from Inzegane, Agadir and Taroudant. Stolen personal belongings belonging to the victim were found in his possession, the reports said.
The suspect remains under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor.
