The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has welcomed a ruling by the appeals committee of the Confederation of African Football confirming Morocco as champions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
In a statement, the federation said the decision “moves in the direction of respecting the rules and ensuring the stability necessary for the proper functioning of international competitions.”
The FRMF stressed that it had consistently called for the strict application of competition regulations, adding that its démarche was never intended to challenge the sporting performance of teams but rather to ensure compliance with established rules.
Following an initial ruling that the federation had appealed, CAF’s decision now acknowledges that “a rule, known to all and applicable to all, had not been respected,” according to the statement.
The Moroccan federation said it had adhered to all procedures governing disputes, submitting its legal arguments and participating in hearings while seeking to safeguard its rights and the integrity of the competition framework.
The decision helps clarify the regulatory framework for similar cases and strengthens the consistency and credibility of international competitions, particularly in African football, the FRMF added.
The federation reaffirmed its commitment to defending the strict and fair application of rules before continental and international bodies.
It also expressed confidence ahead of upcoming competitions, including the FIFA World Cup and the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for this summer.
