Midfielder for LOSC Lille (Ligue 1), Ayoub Bouaddi, has “given his verbal agreement” to represent Morocco from now on, French sports outlet Foot Mercato reported on Saturday.
The agreement came a day after a meeting between Morocco’s new head coach, Mohamed Ouahbi, and the 19-year-old Moroccan talent.
“The FRMF presented the midfielder with the project planned with the Moroccan national team,” the outlet noted, adding that “the discussions between the different parties were deemed positive by the Federation.”
According to Foot Mercato, “the versatile Lille player, whose parents are originally from Morocco, had the option of choosing the Atlas Lions” three months ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
“The FRMF remains confident in this case and hopes to call him up as early as the March 2026 training camp, in the hope of integrating him quickly into the squad,” the outlet revealed, noting that the Moroccan team could count on an even deeper midfield alongside Neil El Aynaoui and Samir El Mourabet, who is eligible for upcoming call-ups.
Trained at AFC Creil, Ayoub Bouaddi joined Lille in 2021, where he later signed his first professional contract, which he extended until 2029. He stands out for a mature and thoughtful style of play, rare for his age, and impresses with his composure and vision on the pitch.
Considered one of the greatest talents of the 2007 generation, the young midfielder has already made more than 70 professional appearances with LOSC in the top division.
