Rescue teams on Sunday recovered the body of a man who had been missing for nearly two weeks after floodwaters swept him and his wife into the Oum Er Rbia river near the commune of Bradia in Fquih Ben province.
The victim, identified in local reports as Larbi Boutalbi, disappeared after the couple were caught by strong currents near Douar Ahl Sous on Feb. 25. His wife’s body had been found earlier, while searches for him continued for 12 days.
Civil protection teams, backed by gendarmerie, local authorities and volunteers from the area, carried out daily searches along the riverbanks before the body was found on Sunday.
Security services went to the scene to examine the body and open an investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor, the reports said.
The body was transferred to the provincial morgue for legal procedures.
