Morocco’s food safety agency has ordered the withdrawal of several infant formula batches from the domestic market after an international alert over possible contamination by cereulide, a toxin produced by Bacillus cereus.
The National Office for Food Safety, known as ONSSA, said it immediately instructed the importer to remove the affected batches from sale and placed part of the stock in storage pending disposal, according to Moroccan media reports citing the agency.
The products concerned include batches of NURSIE 1, NURSIE CONFORT 1, APTAMIL PREMIUM +1, APTAMIL PREMIUM +2 and APTAJUNIOR PREMIUM +3 in 400 gram and 900 gram packaging, the reports said.
ONSSA advised consumers not to use formula from the affected batches as a precaution while withdrawals and returns continue.
