Morocco’s food safety agency said Eid al Adha 2026 passed under satisfactory sanitary conditions after veterinary teams inspected more than 3,750 carcasses and responded to thousands of citizen requests across the country.

The National Office for Food Safety, known as ONSSA, said it mobilized about 500 veterinarians and veterinary technicians under a nationwide standby system throughout the holiday period. The teams monitored the health condition of sacrificial meat and provided guidance to households on food safety practices.

According to ONSSA, veterinary services carried out more than 3,750 inspections of slaughtered animals nationwide and visited 350 homes following requests from citizens seeking direct examination of meat and health advice.

The agency also said it handled more than 2,000 phone calls and messages received through its official communication channels during Eid, as consumers sought information or reported concerns related to meat quality and safety.

In parallel, ONSSA continued inspections at approved slaughterhouses and butcher shops to verify compliance with sanitary standards and ensure meat and offal offered for consumption met health requirements.

Authorities had earlier reported carrying out more than 3,200 field inspections and registering around 160,000 sheep and goat fattening units ahead of Eid.

ONSSA said the Eid operation reflects its strategy of maintaining direct contact with consumers and protecting public health during periods of high food consumption.
