Fuel distributors in Morocco began applying a 0.25 dirham per litre increase in both diesel and gasoline prices from late Saturday into early Sunday, marking the first adjustment of March, industry sources told local media.
The increase, described as a “slight rise” that had been anticipated in professional circles, entered into force in the early hours of Sunday. Some distributors implemented the new tariffs overnight, while others were expected to follow throughout the day in line with common market practice.
A sector source said the adjustment was not directly linked to the latest geopolitical escalation in the Gulf and Middle East, arguing that the rise had been expected in advance.
The source added that any impact from current regional tensions would likely be reflected in future pricing cycles.
Before the update, diesel, the most widely consumed fuel in Morocco, was priced at around 10.57 dirhams per litre, while premium gasoline stood near 12.26 dirhams in most stations nationwide, with minor regional variations.
The March increase extends a volatile trend since the start of the year. January saw cuts of 0.65 dirhams for diesel and 0.44 dirhams for gasoline, followed by successive February increases including a 0.25 dirham rise on Feb. 15. Under Morocco’s liberalized fuel market, price adjustments vary by distributor.
