Road repair crews continue efforts to reopen several key routes in northern Morocco more than a week after improved weather conditions followed weeks of severe storms that triggered floods and landslides.
According to official data from the regional directorate of the Ministry of Equipment, five classified roads remain closed in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.
The affected roads include two regional routes: Regional Road 410 near the village of Aghbalo in Chefchaouen province, where severe soil erosion buried several homes, and Regional Road 408 linking Ouazzane and Ain Driij.
Three provincial roads also remain closed: Provincial Road 4405 leading to Khemis Bni Arous, Provincial Road 4706 connecting Al Hamra and Moulay Abdessalam, and Provincial Road 4104 between Teroual and Ain Driij.
Ministry teams have reopened three of the eight classified roads damaged by landslides caused by what authorities described as exceptional rainfall across the region. Work is ongoing to restore access and end isolation for affected communities.
Meanwhile, several unclassified roads managed by local authorities or built by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests remain closed, particularly in rural areas of Chefchaouen, Ouazzane and Larache provinces.
