Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced Wednesday evening that the holy month of Ramadan will begin in Morocco on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, corresponding to 1 Ramadan 1447 AH.
In an official statement, the ministry said it monitored the crescent moon for Ramadan after sunset on Wednesday, Feb. 18, which marked the 29th day of Shaaban. It added that it contacted all regional religious affairs delegates across the kingdom, as well as units of the Royal Armed Forces involved in moon sighting operations, who all confirmed that the crescent was sighted.
Based on these confirmations, the ministry declared Thursday the first day of Ramadan.
The announcement marks the start of the fasting month for millions of Moroccans at home and abroad, a period characterized by fasting from dawn to sunset, increased religious observance and strong social traditions.
