Local authorities in Sidi Slimane Province announced the start of a gradual return process for residents who were evacuated following recent exceptional weather conditions, beginning Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026.
According to an official statement from the provincial administration, a comprehensive operational and logistical plan has been put in place to organize transportation, determine travel routes and ensure on-the-ground support to guarantee a smooth and safe return for affected residents.
The return operation will concern inhabitants of several rural communities, notably in the territorial communes of Oulad Hssine, Aamer Al Chamalya, and Al Mousaada, including dozens of affected villages.
Authorities called on residents whose localities are not included in the current phase to refrain from heading back to affected areas until an official announcement confirms safe access, stressing that the measure is necessary to protect lives and ensure the orderly conduct of operations.
Security checkpoints will also be set up at the entrances of the concerned areas to ensure that only eligible residents take part in the return process and to maintain safe and organized conditions, the statement said.
The evacuations followed severe weather disturbances that caused flooding and raised safety concerns in several parts of the province.
