Morocco international Achraf Hakimi has been ranked among the world’s top-scoring defenders over the past four years, underscoring his growing status as one of football’s most influential modern fullbacks.
According to data published by a football history and statistics website, the Paris Saint-Germain right back finished sixth globally among defenders for goals scored between 2021 and 2025, with 38 goals. None of Hakimi’s goals came from penalty kicks.
Hakimi shares the tally with Costa Rican defender Kendall Waston and ranks ahead of several attack-minded defenders, including Theo Hernandez, Ali Maaloul and Gustavo Gomez.
England’s James Tavernier topped the list with 74 goals, though a significant number were scored from penalties. Hakimi’s record stands out for coming entirely from open play, reflecting his attacking role and ability to arrive in advanced positions.
The 26-year-old has become a key offensive outlet for both Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco’s national team, frequently pushing high up the pitch, exploiting space with his pace and contributing directly to goals in domestic leagues, cup competitions and continental tournaments.
Hakimi’s numbers highlight the evolution of the modern fullback, a role that increasingly blends defensive duties with wide attacking responsibilities and goal-scoring threats.
