Morocco’s leading operator of port terminals Marsa Maroc , signed a management contract with the National Port Authority of Liberia to operate two piers at the port of Monrovia.

Following an international call for tenders, Marsa Maroc has been awarded a port management contract on behalf of Liberia’s National Port Authority, the company announced in a press release, noting that this partnership is the first step in a strategic partnership with a view to a future concession for a multipurpose terminal at the port of Monrovia, which occupies a central position in Liberia’s port landscape.

This agreement reflects a shared ambition to modernize and revitalize Liberia’s port infrastructure, combining Marsa Maroc’s operational expertise with the strategic vision of the National Port Authority of Liberia, the press release emphasizes.

Under this contract, Marsa Maroc, through its subsidiary Marsa Maroc International Logistics (MMIL), will carry out rehabilitation works, supply port equipment, and contribute its expertise in bulk handling. The project is scheduled to be gradually commissioned starting in the first half of 2026.

As the country’s main deep-water port, the port of Monrovia handles the bulk of Liberia’s import and export operations, serving as the principal maritime gateway for the Liberian economy.

This project is expected to sustainably enhance the port’s operational performance of the port of Monrovia and reinforce Liberia’s port and logistics competitiveness, thereby supporting the country’s economic development.
