Marsa Maroc International Logistics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morocco’s Marsa Maroc, plans to acquire a 45 percent stake in BMT, the port operations arm of Spain’s Boluda Corporacion Maritima, the companies said.
The transaction was approved by Marsa Maroc’s board of directors at a meeting on Nov. 19, 2025, and remains subject to approval by the relevant regulatory authorities.
BMT operates nine maritime terminals between the Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands, including facilities in Las Palmas, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Seville, Vilagarcia, Cadiz and Santander. The terminals handled more than 1 million twenty foot equivalent units in 2024, serving cargo flows between mainland Spain and the Canary Islands.
The partnership aims to combine the two groups’ expertise in port terminal management and strengthen their positioning along the Morocco Spain maritime corridor, as well as expand internationally, particularly in Africa.
Marsa Maroc operates 34 terminals across 20 ports. Boluda Corporacion Maritima is a global maritime services group with operations on five continents.
