The Confederation of African Football has appointed a Moroccan refereeing team to officiate the Africa Cup of Nations third-place playoff between Egypt and Nigeria.

Moroccan referee Jalal Jayed will take charge of the match, assisted by compatriots Zakaria Brnissi and Mustapha Akardad, CAF said.

Video assistant referee duties will also feature Moroccan representation, with Hamza El Fariq serving as assistant VAR alongside Tunisia’s Haithem Guirat, under the supervision of Algerian VAR referee Lahlo Benbraham.

The appointment reflects CAF’s confidence in Moroccan officials, who have drawn praise for their performances throughout the tournament.

The third-place match between Egypt and Nigeria is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. local time at Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
