Security forces in Ben Guerir have arrested a woman who was begging near a supermarket accompanied by her two daughters, aged 9 and 4. Upon searching the suspect, officers were shocked to discover she was in possession of approximately 11 million centimes (110,000 MAD), money believed to have been collected through the exploitation of her children.
Although initially referred to the Court of Appeal in Marrakech on suspicion of human trafficking, the case was transferred back to the Primary Court in Ben Guerir. The Public Prosecutor has ordered her detention in the local prison pending trial for the misdemeanor of begging using children. Meanwhile, the two young girls have been placed in the care of a social center to ensure their safety and well-being.
