Morocco international Brahim Diaz continues to shine at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, moving within one goal of matching the national team’s all-time scoring record at the tournament.
Diaz has scored five goals in five matches for the Atlas Lions during the current edition, emerging as one of the standout players of the competition and a key figure in Morocco’s push toward the later stages.
The record is held by the late Ahmed Faras, who scored six goals for Morocco in Africa Cup of Nations finals across 12 matches in the 1972, 1976 and 1978 tournaments. His final goal came during the 1976 edition, when Morocco won its only continental title.
With his five goals, Diaz is now tied for second place on Morocco’s all-time AFCON scorers list alongside Youssef En-Nesyri, who scored five goals in 20 appearances across multiple tournaments.
Attention is now focused on Diaz’s upcoming performances. One more goal would see him equal Faras’ long-standing record, while any additional goals would make him Morocco’s outright top scorer in Africa Cup of Nations history.
