Morocco received 19.8 million tourists in 2025, a record that brought the country close for the first time to the 20 million visitor threshold and marked a 14 percent increase from 2024, the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy said in a statement.
The ministry described the result as a historic milestone and said it reflects the tangible impact of the government’s 2023 2026 tourism roadmap, which it said was launched under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and focused on expanding air connectivity, structuring accommodation capacity, diversifying tourism offerings, improving service quality and encouraging investment across regions.
The ministry also reported record foreign currency tourism receipts of 124 billion dirhams through the end of November 2025, up 19 percent from the same period in 2024, calling tourism a driver of economic growth at the local level.
Tourism Minister Fatim Zahra Ammor said “in the statement” that welcoming nearly 20 million tourists in 2025 reflects a deep transformation in Moroccan tourism, citing what she described as the King’s vision and pointing to a model she said is more efficient and sustainable with positive local effects.
Ammor said the 2025 record year represents a strategic turning point that opens a new chapter aligned with the kingdom’s goal of attracting 26 million tourists and positioning Morocco as a leading tourist destination by 2030, according to the same statement.
The ministry framed the 2025 performance as part of a sustained recovery and year on year improvement in visitor numbers, with policy emphasis on transport links, lodging capacity and investment intended to translate growth into broader gains across destinations.
