Morocco’s National Airports Office said part of a suspended ceiling collapsed on the city-side dome of Marrakech Menara Airport following severe weather marked by heavy rain and strong winds.
In a statement, the airport authority said its teams had intervened as soon as structural anomalies were detected and before the ceiling elements fell. A safety perimeter was immediately set up, allowing passenger movement and airport access to continue under controlled conditions.
The Office said the situation remains under control and that all airport operations are continuing normally outside the affected area. Security measures remain in place, while technical teams have launched the necessary interventions to restore the damaged section in line with current safety standards.
Technical investigations are underway to determine the exact causes of the incident, and repair work will begin as soon as possible. The authority said it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as work progresses.
The National Airports Office stressed that passenger, staff, and public safety remains its top priority across all airports nationwide.
